TRUTH

MONDAY, MAY 5
READING: JOHN 14:6
TRUTH … It feels lost in today’s world.
Is this real news, or fake news?
Is this opinion or fact?
Our culture leans heavily toward the idea that “we can find our own truth.” In some ways this sounds reasonable because it means generational and family lies, as well as cultural norms can be challenged, even broken. But it is also very dangerous — especially for followers of Jesus. While self-reflection and introspection may help us understand some things about ourselves, it will not save us or redeem us. Only Jesus can do that. In fact, Jesus clearly announces that HE is the only WAY, He is the TRUTH, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.
So, how do we navigate living His truth in a world oriented to their own version of “truth”? While the Bible may feel very churchy, it is our road map for finding our way into living the truth of the Kingdom of God. By spending time reading the Bible, knowing His words and discovering His truth, Jesus teaches us how we untangle ourselves from “the lies we like.”
The lies, chains, and norms that we are attempting to escape will lose their power over us as we fully surrender to Jesus’ truth! By doing the hard work of confessing, repenting and daily examining our hearts, we will find the freedom and companionship with Jesus that we desperately long for!

JOURNALING QUESTIONS
